I keep hoping to stumble across a wonderful time capsule left behind by a former owner filled with photos and a note to the future… But instead we just keep finding weird things shoved in the walls, like today’s find: an empty Johnnie Walker bottle with a rolled up page from a Victoria’s Secret catalog. On the bottle is the date—11-24-97—so after a bit of Googling, I think this is Tyra Banks’ first catalog with VS (she’s in the upper right-hand corner). I have a feeling whoever put it behind the door trim was the same person who left the unmarked porn VHS tape inside the floor of the bedroom closet. Successfully finished tearing out what we called “the bumpout” from our future living room. In a few months this room will hopefully be beautiful. Black trim will become white. Gross taupe walls will become a very light gray. Poorly painted floors will be refinished. And that creepy uncentered chandelier will be pulled down.
